MANUSCRIPT ASSESSMENT
Do you need an impartial reader who will tell you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about your writing? I offer professional feedback and advice on your book, whether it is in early draft stage or nearing the final cut.
Many writers find a critique of their work is very helpful before they consider the next steps in the process. As an experienced writer and publisher I provide an honest appraisal of your manuscript that may surprise or even disconcert you, but which gives a realistic and resourceful review of the piece. I give your writing a health-check that discusses how to constructively resolve any issues, via a detailed written report.
The Assessment looks at some or all of the following points (depending on genre):
-
Beginnings and endings
-
Structure and reader navigation
-
Plot construction and the narrative arc
-
Development of key themes
-
The Three Cs: Clarity, Coherence, Continuity
-
Characterisation
-
Style issues
-
Manuscript presentation and design implications
-
Any necessary revisions
-
Next steps
It will also answer the following questions:
-
Is the piece suitable for publication? If not, why not?
-
Does it need a substantive edit, copy edit or proofread?
-
How could it be improved?
-
What are the publishing options?
